Dr. Shahria Alam currently works as a professor of civil engineering, and also a director of Green Construction Research & Training Center (GCRTC), at University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus). Prior to join at UBC-Okanagan, Dr. Alam has worked in several industrial projects while working as a structural engineer for Halcrow Yolles (Toronto) and JNE Consulting Ltd. (Hamilton, ON). His research interests focus on Smart Materials and their Structural Applications, Seismic Rehabilitation of Steel, Concrete and Masonry Structures, Recycle/Reuse of Industrial Wastes for Structural Applications, etc. He has more than 400 publications, including journal articles, conference paper, books/book chapters with over 10000 citations, which bring a h-index of 54 to him. He is vice president (Tech Programs) at Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE), Canada. He is a winner of many awards and scholarships, and his research contribution has been recognized by various professional bodies and institutions.
